The tale of the paranoid - 2 Bishops' call for People Power are legal...

1987 CONSTITUTION PROVIDES FOR PEOPLE POWER:

The constitution dictates that the highest law of the land grants to our people and their organizations the right to "people power".

Section 16, Art. 13 says: "The right of the people and their
organizations to effective and reasonable participation at all levels
of social, political and economic decision making shall not be
abridged. The State shall, by law, facilitate the establishment of
adequate consultation mechanism."

The call of Bishops Diosdado Yniguez of Caloocan City and Antonio
Tobias of Novaliches, Quezon City are legal based on the 1987 constitution.  Apparently Secretary Raul Gonzales is having his regular fits of paranoia regarding the political situations within the country and the statements of the two bishops.  It is really hard for people who are lost in the head to comprehend that the critics of this current administration is actually doing something with legal basis since the Secretary is probably straight minded to the fact that anyone who does not agree with GMA is obviously the enemy.

And in the face of this, peaceful groups assembling has been harassed, detained, and forcibly arrested without basis, including young people, just because the government is consistent with Secretary Gonzales' state of delusion that they still have the majority of support from the entire Filipino people.

Call it what you want but preemption of the Filipino's right to openly demonstrate their sentiments is a violation of the basic human right to organize which is constitutionally allowable, whether crazy or not.

Si Raul Oh!

  3. Seriously- People Power resides on the People even without the provision under the Constitution- because my argument is- Do you mean to say that if that provision were not in the Constitution there would be no more people power? That's absurd. To the people resides sovereignty- we merely delegated it to the government when we signed the Social Contract which is the Constitution. Take note that the House of Representatives which are merely OUR representatives. Sovereignty resides in the PEOPLE- and with or without a constitution- the will of the people right or wrong to demand redresses, to demand change and even a change in government is supreme...
